Live location sharing on Whatsapp for Android and iOS users now available

When it comes to rolling out update or adding new features, Whatsapp is definitely not among the fastest but the company is still trying its best to make the app safer and easier for users. Yesterday, the company rolled out a new feature known as live location sharing to the Android and iOS users of the app. Although the live location sharing may not be new to some of us because the feature had already available in Google Map and Facebook Messenger for more than seven months now and is just arriving to the popular instant messaging platform, Whatsapp.


The Live sharing location is a feature that allows you to share your location in real-time with family or friends. Whether you're meeting up with friends, letting loved ones know you're safe, or sharing your commute, Live Location is a simple and secure way to let people know where you are. This end-to-end encrypted feature lets you control who you share with and for how long. You can choose to stop sharing at any time or let the Live Location timer simply expire.

The live sharing location is rolling out "in the coming weeks" in the chat service's Android and iOS apps.

To start live location sharing, open a chat with the person or group you want to use it with, choose the Attach button then Location - the new Share Live Location option is what you want to pick of course. Choose for how long you want to share and tap Send.
